On-Site Ignition Repair and Replacement — What the Process Actually Looks Like
When our technician arrives at your location, the first step is always a thorough inspection of the ignition cylinder and surrounding column components. Many ignition problems — a key that turns hard, a cylinder that feels gritty, or a switch that intermittently fails — stem from worn internal wafers, debris accumulation, or a damaged key that has slowly carved the tumblers out of spec. Where the damage is limited, we can often rekey or refurbish the existing cylinder, preserving your original key pattern and saving you a longer job. We work on a wide range of makes and models, from daily commuter sedans to pickup trucks and SUVs common throughout Middlesex County.
When the cylinder or the electromechanical ignition switch behind it is beyond saving, we move to full replacement. We carry an assortment of OEM-compatible ignition components and cut a new key to the replacement cylinder on the spot using our mobile key-cutting equipment. The goal throughout is to work damage-free wherever possible — no unnecessary drilling, no damage to the steering column shroud — because preserving your vehicle matters as much as restoring function. Once the new or repaired cylinder is installed and tested, we verify the key cycles correctly through all positions before we consider the job complete.
